Chapter 46
Revenge is peace
Eri peaked through the thin crack of her bedroom door, her attention honed in on the voices that echoed further within the house. The commotion had just started only a few seconds ago, but Aizawa and Yamada were both frantically speaking at each other as they banged around the house. It was hard to make out exactly what they were saying as they kept moving closer and then farther away from the hallway.
“The hospital…” Yamada’s voice drifted off into mumbling. It was strained as he seemed to be moving something as he spoke. A moment later his voice became a bit more clear. ”That means Uraraka has…” before his voice drifted back with an “I’ll get Eri to a different safe house...”
The young girl blinked at that, her mind racing as she listened a moment longer. Eri didn’t know why, but deep down she just knew that whatever was happening had to do with Izuku, and that was enough reason for her to look down and examine what she was wearing; a green hoodie with dark blue sweatpants and fuzzy socks. Eri nodded before running to her closet to grab her sneakers to slip before she moved back to her bedroom door. She quickly reached up to the baseball hat that hung on the back of her door as she listened back into what the couple were saying.
They were still talking, though their movements were not as frantic as a moment ago.
”I’ve been called to the hospital.” Yamada’s voice was low.
”Okay, we will see each other after all of this.” Aizawa said, no doubt trying to comfort his mate with the remaining time they had.
Eri took a deep breath, squeezing her eyes shut as she tried to settle the fear that was poking at the edge of her mind. With a confident hum she scurried to the window- grabbing the pocket knife that Yamada had given her off the night stand- and lifted the pain just enough until she was able to slide through the opening and out into the yard.
Eri moved quickly around the house, her heart racing as she kept out of sight from the windows until she got to the back of Aizawa’s car. She knelt behind it and flipped her knife open. It took three attempts before she was able to break the lock and open the trunk just enough for her to fit.
Just in time too as she could hear the front door slam close and the couples voices draw closer. She slipped into the trunk, her fingers gripping the inside of the metal to hold the lid down completely.
Moments later the engine reared to life and Eri couldn’t stop the grin that spread across her face as the car began to drive away.
Izuku stumbled onto hard cement. His breaths were heavy as he looked around for his target, mind still slightly clouded but determination unyealing. He took note of the low lighting and no windows, the room wasn’t very large but had a few sets of chairs and tables scattered around. There was one door on the far wall, where a figure was walking towards it.
Overhaul was only a few feet away, back facing the omega with gloved hands relaxed by his side. Izuku lunged forward, bare feet slapping against the cement until he was able to grasp at the alpha's arm and pull.
The alpha only stumbled slightly as his jacket tore at the shoulder seam. Golden eyes narrowed with anger at being touched, his scent filled the space with an acidic and raw aggression.
“Let go, Omega.” Chisaki’s voice was low, but the growl under each syllable was indication enough that the alpha had no patience.
Izuku didn’t give a shit.
He swiped a clawed hand at the man’s face, ripping the cloth mask off of the alpha with a heavy hiss in his throat. Golden eyes widened in shock as blood trickled down the man’s face- whether it was his own or from Izuku’s hand was of little concern for the omega.
“You vial beast.” Overhaul roared as he lashed out, his elbow slamming into Izuku’s shoulder with a defining hit.
Izuku merely grunted at the impact, his body already braced for an attack. He used the alpha’s hit to move him around to the alpha’s other side so he could sink his clawed hands into the man’s arm and yank with all his strength.
Overhaul stumbled again, his coat falling off his shoulder just enough to prevent the alpha from lifting his arms to block the knee that slammed into his nose. A crunch and yell filled the room as the alpha tucked into himself.
The omega only continued his assault. A kick to the alpha’s knee and the alpha was crumpling to the floor, the only thing keeping his head from following was the fisted grip in his hair. Izuku held the alpha’s weight with ease as he drew back his free hand and punched the alpha in the side of the head.
He pulled back for another hit, but his arm was stopped. Izuku twisted his attention behind him, his eyes dilating as he located the new threat; a man with white hair loomed over his shoulder with a sickening smile.
”So this is the omega you're obsessed with.”
Izuku’s stomach rolled as the scent of dust and mold filled his lungs. He had never smelt anything as putrid as this new alpha. He had a scent that’s baseline was of anger and intrigued hunger was enough to make Izuku’s deepest instincts scream to run.
“You’re a spunky little thing.” The alpha sneered, his scent that coiled around the area turning possessive. Red eyes averted away from Izuku to the alpha groaning on the floor. “I’ll take him as payment, Overhaul. Your debt is forgiven.”
Izuku hissed at the words as he tried to pull away from the alpha’s painful grip. This alpha didn’t move in the slightest, he just chuckled as his eyes remained on the other alpha.
“He is mine!” Overhaul rumbled. He tried to stumble to his knees but the white haired alpha only kicked him over with a heavy boot.
“Stay down, or I’ll have my team kill ya and destroy this entire building.”
Izuku yanked again, before throwing his head forward to bite into the alpha’s forearm as hard as he. Yet, again, it did nothing but set the alpha laughing in joy. Izuku could feel blood pool in his mouth as skin and muscle tore from the man, but the alpha didn’t loosen his grip as he easily dragged Izuku out the door and into a long hallway.
Izuku stumbled beside him, trying his best to get his feet underneath him as best as he could.
“Twice!” The alpha yelled, his voice echoing down the hall. There was suddenly another figure beside them, this one clouded in mist as he stayed close to the opposite side of the white haired alpha.
Footstep clambered down the hall towards them and Izuku choked on his tongue as he recognized the blonde man as the Bakugo’s gardener. More panic drenched the omega as he realized that not even his ‘safe’ house hadn’t been a sanctuary from the beginning.
“No!” Izuku yelled. He dug his feet into the floor and put all his weight into his legs. After a moment of thought he aimed for the white haired alpha’s crotch, hoping his movements were fast enough.
He didn’t get the chance to do much of anything as the alpha grasped Izuku around the throat and lifted him up into the air. Izuku’s feet dangled, his claws piercing into the alpha’s arm as he started deep into ruby eyes as he gasped for breath.
“FREEZE.”
The alpha’s command was firm and the omega’s body fell into compliances instantly.
”We are leaving now! Kiroguri, retrieve Toga. Twice, get the others.”
The two men nodded, and within seconds one man ran back down the hall while the other walked into an identical swirl of mist as the one that Izuku had jumped through.
“Now, little omega.” Those red eyes bore into clouded green irises. “I have no need to keep you alive. So stay still and quiet or I will turn you to dust.”
Izuku only stared back, clouded head now thick with an additional fog that forced everything to feel distant.
The alpha dropped the omega back to the ground, his grip now settled on the front of the hospital shirt as he walked through winding halls until they made it to a staircase. Izuku’s limp legs hit every stair on the way up causing sparks of pain from his ankles all the way up to his knee. Any of his attempts to move were unsuccessful, not even a whine was able to slip through his lips.
This alpha didn’t seem to be in any hurry either as it seemed to take them forever to reach the top and then out a large set of metal doors. The room they entered was large from what Izuu was able to see. A warehouse of some kind that had heavy chains hanging from the ceiling and metal pillars laying in heaps covered in dust and years of construction debris.
Izuku could feel nails and chunks of rocks dig into his skin as he was dragged toward a van sitting in front of an open garage door.
The sun was setting, barely casting any light into the large building, but it was enough for Izuku to see another purple cloud form barely a few feet away from their destination. The spiral grew larger and seemed to ebb in shape along the edges as it remained in place without anything passing through.
The alpha huffed an irritated breath, no doubt about to yell, but the door behind them banged open. Izuku knew from the acidic scent that flooded the warehouse that Overhaul was right behind them. The immediate growls and grunts further indicating that the brunette alpha was worked into a frenzy and about to attack.
“Kurogiri.” The white haired alpha that held Izuku yelled loudly, his scent flaring and burning Izuku’s nose as he turned them just enough for Izuku to see Overhaul stalking closer.
The man was hunted into himself, face completely covered in blood and his jacket missing. His white shirt hung in slashed fabric around his arms and was tinged with red from the deep cuts made by Izuku.
“Yes, Master.” A voice spoke from the mist, the voice deep and calming.
“Get your-‘
The alpha stopped suddenly, his hand falling lax enough that it dropped Izuku onto the ground. The impact broke Izuku from his daze, the heavy fog receding from his mind with a defining pain in its wake. Izuku gasped in surprise, his limbs finally moving as he tried to crawl away from the alpha.
He didn’t make it three feet before a new set of hands grasped the front of his shirt and hauled him up to his feet.
“Stupid bitch.” Overhaul growled as he shook the omega roughly, causing more pain to echo through Izuku’s head. His golden eyes sparked with anger as he glared. “I’ll make you pay.” Each word spat blood onto Izuku’s face as the alpha exposed his fangs.
A resound growl echoed beside them, the deep rumble caressing a crescendo of goosebumps over the omega’s entire body. Izuku recognized that vibration, he knew who made that familiar sound of violent popping. He sighed in relief as each heavy boot fall got closer.
The warehouse echoed as additional foot falls filled in. Multiple people scurried to different locations, but it was the set that stopped right next to Overhaul that had Izuku humming in triumph.
“Drop him.” Katsuki demanded, his fangs bared and dripping as he glared daggers into the side of Overhaul's face. His scent was thick as malaise as it promised pain to anyone that defied him.
Overhaul remained silent for a moment, his eyes flickering to something over Izuku’s shoulder before a smile grew. “No.” He hissed out.
A thick line lashed out from somewhere behind Izuku and cut into the blonde alpha’s exposed arm. Within a blink of an eye, the thing reeled back and out of sight. Izuku’s eyes widened as he recognized Hari's quirk. “Kacchan, run.” Izuku grunted out as Overhaul easily moved out of the way of the hero’s slowed explosion aimed for his head.
Katsuki kept moving, his attack continuing despite his target no longer being in the same spot. Overhaul laughed, throwing his arm to the side to hit the hero away. Katsuki had no way to defend himself as his body remained locked in its previous momentum. He took the blow directly, his body flying to the side and into a metal beam.
”No!” Izuku screamed, his scent souring as he zeroed in on Overhaul again.
The pain in his head felt minuscule at that moment, the sudden drive to kill Chisaki taking over. He rammed his knee up into the alpha’s gut, smiling as he grabbed the arm that was still gripping his shirt and twisted it until it bent with a satisfying pop.
Overhaul yelled in pain, stumbling back a few steps as he let go of the omega to cradle his dislocated elbow to his side. His fangs dripped and he glared at Izuku, his eyes flickering everywhere to assess his next move.
Neither of them cared for the fighting that was happening around them. Izuku didn’t even notice how Hari lay limp on the ground and was being cuffed by a woman with vines for hair. He didn’t see the blue flames dance through the air and heat the metal support beams of the warehouse or the sudden explosion of ice that flared along the roofline and coated each beam. His body didn’t notice the shifting in temperature, how it altered from too hot and then dropped to near freezing within seconds. Izuku didn’t even care about the white haired alpha jumping out of the way from a man with long dark hair. The alpha was laughing as he tucked his hands into his pants and danced from foot to foot just in time to miss each of the hero's blows.
No, it was Izuku’s other alpha that caught his attention. Hitoshi dropped down from one of the ceiling beams and landed behind Overhaul with barely any sound. His metal muzzle glinted in the flickering firelight as he growled “Overhaul.” With a sickening rumble that sent a thrill through Izuku’s entire body.
Chisaki only smiled before clamping his mouth shut, and whirled on his new target. In a flash, the brunette used his teeth to rip his glove from his hand. Izuku raged at the sight as he raced forward and leaped onto the man’s back. His claws dug into the man’s neck, claws puddling into flesh as Izuku bared his fangs and screamed out his anger.
Overhaul thrashed, one arm getting coiled in Hitoshi’s scarf, but the exposed hand reached up and grasped Izuku’s bicep. Chisaki kicked Hitoshi’s advances away as he activated his quirk. Pain flared through Izuku’s arm, his skin melting off before he was thrown onto the floor. His head cracked against the pavement, the sound bursting the omega’s eardrums and forcing his vision to darken.
Eri remained crouched behind the opening of the garage, heart thundering in her chest as she watched the fighting. Her eyes bounced from one spot to the other as the entire warehouse moved and exploded with quirks.
Panic coursed through her as she tried to understand everything that was happening. One moment she had been clambering from the trunk of the car- tailing Aizawa and a group of heroes down a street- and the next she was watching a war.
Her breathing was harsh and fast as he tried to settle herself, but each loud sound and scream echoed in her head until everything was a roaring wave crashing over her.
The knife in her hand shook, the four inch blade seeming laughable now as she watched a reptile man rip through a hero’s thigh with nothing but his fingers. Flames suddenly licked close to her, the intense heat making her flinch back and into the safety of the shadows.
“What am I doing here?” Eri whimpered to herself, her fist slamming into the dirt.
She had no business following Aizawa. Did she really think that she could be of any help? She was just a stupid kid with nothing but a stupid quirk compared to what she was witnessing.
Tears streamed down Eri’s face as she looked out over the darkened lot of land. She could see the flashing of police lights in the distance, see the flickering of blue from the fire that spilled out of the broken windows and onto rusted vehicles.
This was no place for her, she should leave before anyone saw her.
A scream echoed through the warehouse and out the large garage door. It was full of pain and anger like the many made within the five minutes that had passed. Yet, this one had Eri turning her gaze back toward the fight. This one was so familiar that it reached so deep and ripped a roar from her very soul.
Before Eri could even blink, she was rushing through the garage door, her eyes scanning everywhere for the omega she needed to protect. She jumped over rusted rebar and around two figures brawling on the floor until she was able to slide along the side of a van. Someone gasped just a few feet beside her- whether it was because of her presence or an injury she had no idea- she kept moving. She ran, breathing deeply as she searched for the scent of her target, one name repeating in her head over and over.
Izuku, Izuku, Izuku, “Izuku!”
He was there, in a crumpled heap a few paces beyond the back of the van… and he was barely moving with blood pooling where his right arm should be.
Eri’s vision swam as the blood that covered Izuku seemed to discolor her vision. Her chest vibrated with a growl so deep within her that she had no way of controlling it. Her steps seemed to sink into the ground as she prowled, her eyes now set onto the one person she knew had hurt her omega. The one person who would pay for the harm caused.
Overhaul was fighting two steps away from Izuku. His attention was fully on a hero that was yelling profanities and threats over and over again. The hero wasn’t one that Eri had met before, yet the subtle scent that she was able to pick up was the same one that had danced around in the Bakugou’s house when she had visited.
Family, her alpha supplied. Pack, Protect
The hero twisted awkwardly, barely able to keep Chisaki’s bare hands from touching him as he stumbled to the side. His left side was open and it seemed Overhaul was rearing to pounce.
Eri sprinted, her shoes crunching on debris as she jumped over a pile of lumber. She expended her hands, her horn glowing bright as she latched onto the arm that was about to grab the Allspice Alpha.
She screamed as she let the anger and fear she had carried for years dictate her quirk. Allowed every memory she had of Chisaki to play in her mind as his golden eyes met hers. He seemed to recognize too late what was happening as they dilated and then widened in fear.
“Eri.” He gasped before a pained whine leached from his throat. His other hand grasped onto her, his quirk writhing under her skin, but the young Ralph ignored it.
She only smiled as she watched Overhaul crumble to his knees, then laughed as he thrashed onto the ground. She watched with pure happiness as within the space of a breath the alpha disappeared.
Her hands closed into fist once there was nothing to hold. Silence seemed to ring out around her despite the chaos that continued to sway behind her, but it was a feeling of peace that settled over the young alpha as she took a shuddered breath.
“He’s gone.” she whispered, eyes closing as she basked in the feeling.
Word count: 3399
Of course I had to make Eri be the one to kill Overhaul. It will forever, no matter what universe, be her privilege to right to do so.
