Chapter 36
Unexpected Alliance
The weeks moved by slowly once Toshi was medically signed off to return to work. The man was consistently busy now that he was able to take up his shift again. It was like Aizawa was taking advantage of having Hitoshi back on schedule. It was hard for the blonde to adjust, not entirely sure what to do with himself in the increasingly packed house.
Katsuki didn’t completely understand why he was being like this when his parents and the Midoriyas surrounded him. There was always something happening; people cooking in the kitchen, lounging in the sitting room for tea, chatting in the backyard and enjoying the warm days. The small group had started up playing board games almost every evening after dinner, the house filled with laughter that should swallow the blonde alpha whole.
Katsuki felt out of place regardless. It was like he was watching everyone else live life rather than participating in it. He first assumed it was because of Tosha’s lack of presence the majority of the week; even though his cat was more than willing to take his place on each and every chair beside him.
Yet after the first week, Katsuki realized why he was feeling off. It was the ever present figure Hizashi Midoriya that continuously reminded the alpha that Izuku’s time was running out. His imposing posture and all knowing gaze created some kind of barrier that Katsuki couldn’t weezle through.
That realization had kept the blonde up every night. Without his boyfriend there to sooth his racing mind, it was impossible to get more than a few hours. And that had dragged Katsuki to his limit.
He had planned for anything and everything, working through every possible detail of what the future would hold with Mr Midoriya’s expectations. Mentally, he noted that he had a passport; a requirement to be a hero. Though Katsuki wasn’t sure if he could use it for an extended stay without getting medically cleared first. Even then, the alpha didn’t think he would be able to follow Izuku to the States for longer than a few months before he had to return to Japan. That didn’t settle well. It was also difficult for a hero to gain a green card since work visas were the route that heroes used; but Katsuki couldn’t work!
He groaned at the thought. The alpha rolled over on his bed, pressing his hands into his eyes until he saw bursts of color. He needed to get his shit together. He couldn’t wallow in his own self esteem because of this, no matter how much he didn’t want to. Katsuki’s therapist would no doubt encourage him to use this hiccup as motivation anyway, so calling the woman wasn’t something he felt he wanted to do.
A foreign giggle caught the alpha’s attention. The feminine tilt was not his mother’s or Inko’s. Katsuki got to his feet and made his way to his bedroom door, pressing his ear up against it.
“He’s so cute!” A woman sang. “What’s the little guy's name?”
Izuku’s voice filtered through, his voice cheery as he answered. “This is Nyon. I’m watching him for a friend since he is swamped with work and didn’t want to leave his cat alone for days on end.”
The blonde alpha smiled, not caring to listen further to the conversation happening in the hallway. It was obvious now that the omega’s nurse was back for the week check up. Izuku had been flourishing more and more with every day that passed. He was putting on weight, no longer looking malnutritioned and gauntly, but petite and full of energy. His hair had become far more shiny and bright as was the glint in his eye. The omega was becoming more beautiful with every glance that Katsuki witnessed.
It shouldn’t have been a surprise when the small omega happily agreed to Mistuki’s offer of strength training in the home gym. The omega had lost what muscle mass he had from the weeks in the hospital.
Katsuki would join them occasionally; usually because he too needed to stay in top shape in preparation for his return to work. There was no way he was going to regress in his own strength with Overhaul still haunting his thoughts.
Katsuki sighed, rubbing at his temples as he tried to come up with something, anything that could either catch the villain and keep Izuku close.
Yui laughed as Izuku tried to cuddle the cat close to his chest as they walked into his room. Nyan was apparently not in the mood; grunting heavily as he squirmed until Izuku lost his grip and was able to slink down to the floor before jumping to the farthest corner of Izuku’s nest.
Izuku watched the cat with a pout before turning back to the nurse.
“Alright.” Yui giggled, pulling out a tablet from her bag. “Let's get the general questions out of the way. Any nausea, stomach pain, headaches or overall aches and pains?”
Izuku shook his head as he plopped down on his bed. His body had finally started to work properly when it came to food. He wasn’t getting sick when he looked at what was being prepared.
“Good.” The nurse nodded. “How about mentally? Do you feel like things are the same, worse or better from last week?”
Izuku furrowed his brow in thought. “Pretty much the same. I feel like I am different every day.”
“That’s normal. You are still at the beginning of your med subscription.” Yui comforted, her eyes softened as she looked at Izuku. “Sometimes it can take a little bit before you notice a difference. What about your heat?”
Izuku shook his head. They had talked about this before, but couldn’t conclude anything. He had explained how his pre heat had started the morning of the raid but couldn’t remember if it continued after. During that conversation, Yui had mentioned that could’ve been the reason he had gone feral so quickly. His omega had taken over in an attempt to protect himself and Eri.
The nurse spoke, her tone serious. “I talked with my Manager about this. They think having three alphas fighting in the same room as you while feral could have chemically changed things in your brain. From my Manager’s experience, that could also be the reason why you haven’t had another heat. It can take a while for your body to feel safe again. He explained it as the body trying to heal from the traumatic experience. So until you feel completely safe we shouldn’t expect a new cycle. Though I will still check in as though it is regular. Is that okay?”
Izuku nodded, shoulders dropping. “Did you mention my concern about not going through the full cycle though?” He was worried. From what was written in his medical file, there was no indication that Izuku had been in heat when he arrived at the hospital. Something was strange considering that he had been in preheat earlier that morning.
”Yes.” Yui nodded. “Not a lot is known about omega health in regards to going feral and how that can impact cycles. But from what we researched, it could be that your body stopped the cycle when you were knocked unconscious. Sometimes our bodies do things to survive, and it could be that your body didn’t want to be noticed with three alphas fighting so it tried to camouflage itself. Being in preheat while unconscious would have allowed any one of them- including your abuser- to claim you, whether they were the strongest or not. So your body suppressed your heat to protect itself.” The nurse paused, taking a breath before giving Izuku a sympathetic smile. “We sent that info to your therapist so you can work through that when you're ready.”
Izuku sighed, the gravity of the nurse’s words forming a pit in his stomach. “That makes sense. I don’t remember what happened after I found Eri. It was like everything turned blurry and then there’s nothing after she ran out of the room.”
Yui nodded as she walked up next to him and grabbed his hand to squeeze in comfort. “A sudden feral state can do that. It’s a way for our bodies to protect us from what is happening. Sometimes not remembering is the best way our body can heal. Have you brought that up with your therapist?”
Izuku nodded, but didn’t say anything further.
“Izuku.” Yui said, kneeling in front of him to make sure she had the omega’s attention. “It’s okay to not know what happened and how to feel about it. You have a strong support base around you and from week to week I can see the progress you are making. Focus on what is happening now rather than the details of the past.”
”Thanks Yui.” The male omega nodded as he tried not to tear up. “My therapist has said similar things. It just feels weird to not remember something as big as fighting Overhaul, or two heroes showing up too. That seems important enough to remember since he is still out there. I just wish I could move on but I don’t know how without knowing he isn’t hurting people. What if he goes after Eri, I could never live with myself if she got taken.”
Yui nodded, head tilting down as she tapped her finger against the side of the tablet in thought. She had a funny look on her face. Her normal bubbly personality dampened to a cool expression that Izuku couldn’t understand.
“I’m sure that the heroes will be able to do something.” Yui finally said, though her tone was tight. “I’m sure Overhaul won’t be staying hidden for much longer, especially with how well you are doing now. He has a plan-”
She suddenly cut herself off, blinking rapidly while shaking her head. Izuku tilted his head in thought, mulling over her words. “I guess.” He conceded. He didn’t feel reassured by her reply, rather more confused than ever.
The woman stood, grabbing her bag and draping it over her shoulder. “We don’t need to draw blood today. So my visit wasn’t scheduled for very long. I will see you next week, Izuku.”
Izuku nodded as he watched the omega walk out his bedroom in a hurry. She didn’t even wave goodbye.
As the nurse moved toward the stairs a door next to her opened. She turned with a startled back step, not expecting the sudden movement. She looked up to meet the gaze of the hero Dynamite, his imposing form taking up the doorway completely.
He was glaring at her as he watched her. “You’re Izuku’s nurse.” It was more a statement than a question.
Yui nodded dumbly, not sure what to do as she looked at the large alpha up and down.
“I would like a word with you.” His tone was short as his eyes examined the woman in turn.
“I apologize, but I cannot discuss my patients' health.” She said, finally jogging herself from her stupor.
The alpha nodded, rubbing his jaw as he looked over the omega’s shoulder but not directly at anything. “This isn’t about his health, but rather some information that is critical to his safety. I would like your opinion on a few things.”
Yui tilted her head, curious at what the hero could mean. This could be the chance her group needed to garner sensitive information, and thus resulting in a bigger payout for herself in turn.
”Okay, but I can’t stay long.” The nurse agreed hesitantly. “I have other patients to get to within an allocated time frame.”
She didn’t, Izuku was her only patient, but maybe the pressure of a time limit would get the alpha to disclose more information to her.
Dynamite nodded and motioned for to follow him to another room from the one he had been in. She only paused for a moment, keeping space between them while she scoped the area. She shifted the bag on her shoulder slightly, mentally checking where the zipper was in case she needed to grab her gear, her fingers twitching for the blade in the outside pocket in preparation for an ambush.
With one last scan to confirm the room was empty, she entered the room but only a few feet. There was a desk and shelves filled with awards and miniatures of heroes- all of them covered in a layer of dust.
The alpha turned to her, hip leaned against the desk as he crossed his arms. He kept the typical Dynamite glare, though one fang was nibbling on his bottom lip.
“I don't know how to go about this without legal repercussions, so I'm going to be blunt. If for any reason you don't like what you hear, leave. I'm not gonna waste my time.” Dynamite spoke, his voice low but not threatening.
“Okay…” Yui nodded, confused but curious.
“I need to know the medical state Izuku is currently in and whether some adjustments could be made to fit a certain narrative.” The alpha paused just long enough before continuing. “Izuku’s Sire is planning to relocate his recovery to the US on jurisdiction that his abuser is still at large. Mr Midoriya is a high ranking military member and thus can use his connections to protect Izuku more than we can.”
Yui’s eyes widened at the information, her hand tightening around the strap of her bag. “I see.” She whispered to herself.
There was no way she could allow the transfer of the omega patient to happen. Her neck was on the line- it would literally explode or decay if Izuku was relocated any farther than he already was. That was the whole point of why she was his nurse in the first place.
“What would your plan be if I helped you?” Yui finally asked after a moment, crossing her arms and glaring at the hero. “I can see where this is going, but this will put my job on the line too. I would need something in return for that kind of risk.”
The alpha smirked, his eyes gleaming with some kind of joy at the words. “How about we come up with a plan together then. That way we both get what we want.”
Yui lifted a brow- humored at the hero’s words- and walked further into the room and plopped into the open desk chair.
Toga lounged back in her seat as her group sat in front of Overhaul. The man looked a bit frazzled, his hair wild and mask fastened far tighter than usual as Shigaraki stood in front of him with an angry glare.
“So what you're saying is that you cannot keep up your end of the contract.” Shigaraki growled, his gloved hand fisting tightly as the other itched at his arm.
Overhaul rolled his eyes as he tried and failed to relax back on the couch across from Toga. “Payment is only delayed by a week, don’t get worked up over this.”
The white haired man shook his head, turning to look at Kurogiri. “Seems we need to remind this dickshit what we agreed to.”
The misted man nodded and directed his gaze to Overhaul. “As agreed to, there will be interest in this. 56% for every day the payment is late.”
Overhaul narrowed his eyes at the misted villain, “Don’t threaten me! I know what I agreed to. But let me remind you who I have in my back pocket.” He snapped his fingers, one of his tiny minions running out of the room.
“I have far better connections than just your sad group, Shigaraki. I don’t keep myself in one box, I have agreements beyond what you can imagine.” Overhaul's voice was low, predatory and he leaned forward.
The door opened again, the little creature running back in. Behind him walked in a short woman, her brown bob swaying as she made her way over to Overhaul. Toga smiled as she gazed at the woman, delighted to see the hero again.
“May I introduce Uragravity. Sunlight hero, ranked 53 in the field and 24 in recovery.” Overhaul said, a sadistic glee in his voice as he kept his gaze on Shigaraki. “I don’t just have her in my back pocket, but her friend group of heroes.”
Shigaraki laughed. “How do you know she won’t stab you in the back? Daylight heroes are nothing but show ponies.”
”I am under contract with Overhaul.” Uragravity said, her tone even as she stood beside Overhaul. Her brown eyes held nothing in them, almost like she was bored. “I see no reason to break it when I get what I want.”
Toga leaned forward, smiling. “And what would that be?” She couldn’t help but ask, hoping to know what made the daylight hero tick.
Uragravity looked at the blonde, her eyes sweeping the other woman over. “Nothing that concerns your group.” She spoke, her eyes stayed trained on Toga, not dismissing her question.
The omega smiled at the alpha, humming happily at the other’s attention. “What if I want it to concern just me?”
”Toga!” Shigaraki snapped, cutting off the omega’s flirting. “Shut your mouth.”
Uragravity growled deep in her throat, causing the men around her to look at her. “I am not one to witness sexism and not do anything about it. So watch your words, Shigaraki.”
The man growled but shook his head. “Whatever, I’m done here.” Shigaraki turned on his heels, throwing one last threat over his shoulder. “You better have my payment, Overhaul.“
Toga's smile grew bigger, her omega swooning at the female alpha’s display of dominance. She leaped to her feet, practically dancing behind her boss as the group left the room.

I’m back from my unexpected hiatus. Sorry this chapter is a bit short, but I didn’t have time to write. I got an unexpect job opportunity that had me moving half way across the US. I have been swamped with that and starting my new job, so thank you for waiting.
I should be back on a better writing schedule now that I am starting to settle in a new city. Lol wish’s me luck!
